A sex predator who threatened to kill a woman as he raped her in an alleyway is facing years behind bars.

Roberto Gouveia, 33, pounced on two women within minutes of each other after prowling the streets of Holloway looking for victims.

Prosecutor Mark Eldridge told Blackfriars Crown Court on Friday that Gouveia attacked the first woman as she walked home along Camden Road, Holloway, following a night out on September 11, 2011.

He said: “He told her he had a knife and if she did not do what he wanted, he would use it.

“He said: ‘You don’t want to die, you’d rather let me do this than me have to kill you’.”

The woman struggled free but Gouveia then pinned her face down on the ground while raping her.

After the attack, Gouveia calmly walked away while the woman got passers-by to call police.

While officers scoured the area, Gouveia, of Northumberland Park, Upper Edmonton, attacked a second woman in Brecknock Road after forcing her into another dark alleyway.

He ripped off her clothes and sexually assaulted her, before saying: ‘’Shut up, you are being raped.’’

Mr Eldridge said: “He grabbed her neck with both hands digging his fingers into her neck causing scratches – to keep her quiet.

“She struggled and he punched her twice in the face, then she rather feistily punched him back a number of times, hitting him on the upper lip.”

Gouveia fled to his native Angola but was apprehended when he flew back into Heathrow Airport on February 14.

He initially dismissed the attacks as a “misunderstanding” but pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault and one count of rape.

Judge John Hillen adjourned sentencing until July 19 for a psychiatric assessment of Gouveia but warned him he could face life imprisonment.
