A flat associated with drug dealing and nuisance behaviour was raided by police and closed down last week.

During the raid on the flat in Buckhurst House, in Dalmeny Avenue, Holloway, various drugs paraphernalia including crack pipes were seized and a two month closure order on the address was granted at Highbury Magistrates Court. No arrests were made.

Police Constable James Burgess from the St Georges Safer Neighbourhoods Team, which carried out the raid with the Homes for Islington (HfI) antisocial behaviour team, said: “This address was at the centre of drug dealing and antisocial behaviour in the area. The estate management team from HfI had a log of numerous complaints made by residents and this made it possible to apply for a closure order. Police Closure Orders are a swift and effective tool to bring immediate relief to such problems.”

Doug Goldring, HfI director of operations, thanked the residents who provided witness statements.
