THREE people were arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply and money laundering offences after a chance stop in trendy Upper Street.

Officers from the proactive robbery squad stopped a car in Upper Street, Islington, at around 7.30pm on Tuesday January 11 for a routine search and found what was believed to be drugs and a large amount of cash inside.

Following the find, police carried out further searches of a number of local properties and seized a large amount of suspected Class A drugs, and suspected stolen goods.

Two men, aged 30 and 35 and a woman, aged 28, were arrested in connection with the incident. One of the men and the woman have been bailed to return to police on March 22. The second man is currently being held in custody for another unrelated offence.

Police constable Chris Sands said: “We are actively out there pursuing criminals and this is an example of how good teamwork and local knowledge yields results.”
