Three men have been charged with aggravated vehicle taking after a hatchback crashed into barriers outside a Finsbury Park pub in the early hours of the morning.

The silver VW Polo hit barriers outside The Blackstock on the corner of Seven Sisters Road and Blackstock Road with such force it shook residents’ beds nearby. The car was being pursued by police when it crashed at 3.30am on May 17.

Renele Corbett-Long, 19, of Prince George Road, Stoke Newington, Michael Byfield, 20, of Bath Street, Finsbury, and Ersan Alirizan, 18, of Mildmay Park, Newington Green, appeared at Highbury Magistrates’ Court on May 18 charged with aggravated vehicle taking. Byfield and Alirizan were also charged with allowing to be carried in a stolen vehicle.

Byfield was remanded in custody to reappear at Highbury Corner Magistrates Court on June 1. Corbett-Long and Alirizan were bailed to reappear at the same court on the same date.
