Police are appealing for witnesses to a stabbing that took place in Farringdon last week.

A 22-year-old was stabbed in a fight at a bus stop in St John Street, near the junction with Rawstorne Street.

He was taken to an east London hospital and has since been discharged.

Detectives from the Met’s Trident command are appealing to any witnesses who may have seen the attack.

In particular detectives are keen to identify a rider and passenger of a light coloured moped that was seen in the area.

The rider of the bike is described as being a black male of slim build. He was wearing a black crash helmet and a light grey tracksuit.

The moped passenger was a black female with curly shoulder length hair. She was wearing a black vest and leggings and not wearing a crash helmet.

A moped was later found abandoned in Bevin Court, EC1 and detectives would also like to speak to anyone who saw the moped being left at the location.

One man has been arrested in connection with the incident and has been bailed to return to a police station in late August.

Detective Inspector Glenn Butler from the Met’s Trident and Area Crime Command said: “This was an incident that happened on a busy street during the rush hour. There would be a number of potential witnesses in the area at the time, and I ask for anyone with any information to come forward.

“Thankfully, the injuries were not serious, but could have been as a knife was used. I can assure witnesses that any information will be dealt with in the strictest confidence.”

Witnesses or anyone with information is asked to call police on 020 8358 0711 or phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you do not want to give your name.
