A man has been found dead at a centre for the homeless.
The body was discovered at a shelter in Margery Street, Finsbury, yesterday (Tuesday) morning at about 7.15am.
The man, thought to be aged 41, was found dead at the scene by paramedics. Police say the death is unexplained as they await the results of a post mortem, although they do not think the circumstances suspicious at this stage. The building is run by St Mungo’s and the Mayor of London-backed No Second Night Out (NSNO) scheme and hosts accommodation and an assessment centre.
A spokesman for Islington Police said: “We were at St Mungo’s on an unrelated matter.
“It was brought to officers’ attention that there was a man believed to be deceased at the premises. London Ambulance Service was called and paramedics pronounced life extinct at 7.41am. At the moment, police are treating the death as unexplained.”
A post mortem was due to take place this afternoon.
