Deliveroo wants its delivery riders to spearhead the electric vehicle revolution, and to that end it is trialling a new scheme to subsidise electric scooters for its staff across Camden and Islington.

In partnership with E-scooter firm GreenMo, the food delivery giant will help riders rent the greener and quieter bikes at a reduced rate. Deliveroo will also providing free charging at its Editions sites - which offer restaurants kitchen space so they can reach new areas - for riders and any residents wishing to make use of the service.

Dan Warne, UK Managing Director of Deliveroo said: “We know to make your favorite dish truly amazing it needs to be sustainable too. That’s why alongside our fleet of pedal powered cyclists, we’re supporting scooter riders to make the switch to electric.”

Deliveroo say the move is intended to help tackle noise levels and reduce emissions around its sites, along with helping its delivery staff to save money.
