Campaigners from Disability Action in Islington (DAII) will hold a hustings prior to May’s elections at the Resource for London, Holloway Road, Holloway, on April 4.

The main item on the agenda will be the future for deaf and disabled people amid the latest cuts to local government finances. Representatives from all political parties standing will present their plans, then answer questions from the floor.

Andy Greene, DAII campaigning officer and a member of Islington Disabled People Against Cuts, said: “Eventually, there will be pressure to make cuts to frontline council services.

“The more disabled people have a place in the design, commissioning, delivery and monitoring of policy and services, the better chance we have as a community of avoiding the poverty and isolation these cuts will inevitably bring to countless others nationwide.”
