I WAS travelling towards the Angel in Essex Road on a Number 476 bus. As the bus was approaching the Northchurch Road bus stop at about 2.25pm, a dog suddenly ran off the pavement in front of the bus.

The bus driver was able to brake and avoid the dog which fortunately was not hurt. The lady owner was with the dog and was shouting at the dog for running in front of the bus.

As the bus pulled away to go towards the Angel, I saw the woman on the opposite side of the road hitting the dog with the leather end of its lead, which was not attached to the dog.

If you are reading this, you know who you are.

I was not the dog's fault - it was the owner's fault for not having it on its lead in the first place. So don't take it out on the dog when you were not controlling it in the first place. If you take your dog out in public then you should have proper control of it in the first place - J.E. Kirby, Avon House, Clissold Crescent, N16.
