Budding mathematicians at Drayton Park Primary School blew away the competition in the first number-crunching challenge hosted by exclusive boarding school Christ’s Hospital.
Year 5 children from 30 of the capital’s primary schools competed in the challenge at Guildhall, with Drayton Park bagging first place in both the hexagon and nonagon construction sessions. Fellow Islington competitors St Andrew’s also produced a strong performance in the contest, set up to build links between Christ’s Hospital and London primary schools.
Challenge creator and presenter Douglas Buchanan said: “What an atmosphere with the ambience of the building and the enthusiasm of the pupils.”
