KIND-HEARTED pupils from Islington Arts and Media School (Iams) serve up a treat for pensioners to spread some early Christmas cheer.

Students from the secondary school in Turle Road, Finsbury Park, cooked turkey, roast beef and poached salmon for 100 elderly people from Age Concern Islington - then dazzled their new friends with a Christmas show.

Ashley Grey, community arts co-ordinator at Iams, said: “The main hall was transformed into a lovely dining area, the kids cooked amazing food and the older people loved the singing and dancing. This is the fifth year we’ve opened the doors to the community like this and it’s a great was of showing young people at their best.”

Pensioner Jean Duggleby added: “We were absolutely delighted with the warm welcome, fantastic food and wonderful performances. What a wonderful event.”
