A Finsbury college has appointed a new ceremonial head.
City University, in Northampton Square, has installed the Lord Mayor of London, Alderman Alan Yarrow, as its new Chancellor. Mr Yarrow, who was appointed at the university’s annual meeting of the court on December 22 is the 687th Lord Mayor of the City of London and a specialist in investment banking. During the meeting, he was conferred with an honorary doctorate of science in recognition of his services to the City of London. Mr Yarrow said he was “incredibly proud”, describing the University as “a stunning academic institution.”
He added: “As the new Chancellor I think we should be speaking louder about what a great asset this University is to the City and how much it contributes to the country. As ambassadors of the City I hope you’ll join me in sharing the success of this great institution.”
Following the introduction, Vice-Chancellor professor Paul Curran reviewed the university’s year.
