The hard work of pupils at City of London Academy Highgate Hill paid off today as students gained a 98per cent pass rate in their GCSE results.
60pc of students at the academy received Grade 4+ in English and Maths (equivalent to A*-C grades).
This year 10pc more students achieved Grade 5+ compared to last year, before the school became part of the City of London Academies Trust.
The school opened as a mixed, all-ability, non-denominational academy in September 2017, inheriting students in years 8 to 11 from what was previously, Mount Carmel Catholic College for Girls.
Prince Gennuh, Principal of City of London Academy Highgate Hill, said: “We have seen an increase in the proportion of students achieving a strong pass in both English and maths this year, and this is purely down to the hard work and tenacity of our students and staff.
“We have extremely high expectations of our students. We believe that they can achieve their full potential and consequently inspire them to believe in themselves.
“This is what you achieve when belief is married with tenacity and hard work. Congratulations to all students and thanks to all staff, parents and governors for their unwavering support.”
City of London Academy Highgate Hill is part of the City of London Academies Trust, which runs the City of London Corporation’s sole sponsored academies.
Andrew McMurtrie, chair of the City of London Academies Trust, added: “Congratulations to all the students for achieving excellent GCSE results.
“The City of London Corporation is committed to providing access to world-class education and learning opportunities.
“I hope the students will be able to make the most of the experience that they have had during their time at the school and use it in the career path of their choice.”
