It was a bumper charity fundraiser at the Gower School as more than 300 children turned up to Caledonian Park for a “strawberry tea”.

The event – which raised more than £1,000 for Breast Cancer Care – saw families dressing in pink, picnics with plenty of strawberries and plenty of cake stalls.

On the day there were bouncy castles, donkeys, a maypole, face painting, giant bubbles and even Arsenal FC mascot Gunnersaurus, but it was 11-year-old Willow Sepnecr who stole the show after bagging first place in the bake off competition.

Principal Miss Emma Gowers said: “We had an amazing community effort for this event from children, parents and our hard working staff team, and I am very proud of everyone’s determination to raise as much as possible for Breast Cancer Care, while having so much fun.

“We all work very hard, and I think family events like this are important – they are the things which we remember from our childhoods.”
