Budding writers finally got their hands on the product of months of hard work when their first ever school magazine was delivered hot off the press.

About 20 youngsters at Gillespie Primary School have been working on the school’s new publication at a lunchtime magazine club since December.

They saw the fruits of their labour last week when a copy was handed to every child at the school, in Gillespie Road, Highbury.

The pupils wrote every article, including interviews with high-profile figures such as former Blue Peter presenter Andy Akinwolere and former Apprentice runner-up Saira Khan.

Danielle Graham, 43, of St Thomas’s Road, Finsbury Park, who helps out with the group and whose eight-year-old daughter Ruby is a member, said: “The magazine looks great and it’s helped to foster a love of writing.”
