A new music education hub will launch next month run by the town hall and one of the world’s leading conservatoires.

Guildhall School of Music & Drama and Islington Council will run the new Music Education Hub in collaboration with the Barbican. It is the first partnership of its kind and will offer youngsters in the borough access to world-class music and resources.

“We are delighted to be leading this ground-breaking partnership which offers unparalleled opportunities for our young people and creates a new model for music education in England,” said Islington leader Cllr Richard Watts.

“We are very excited to harness the potential offered by joining forces with a world-famous conservatoire, as part of our commitment to making Islington a place where all children and young people get the best start in life.”

The hub, which has been made possible through Arts Council funding, aims to allow all children aged five to 18 to experience high-quality music and educational activities.
