School dinners in Islington are among the greenest in the UK, according to a top organic standard charity.
Caterlink, which provides 16,000 meals a day at schools in the borough, has been awarded the gold Food for Life Catering Mark, the highest accolade given out by the Soil Association.
Caterers with the Gold Catering Mark use at least 15 per cent organic ingredients as well as a selection of ingredients produced locally, or elsewhere in the UK, and also offer healthier menus.
Neil Fuller, managing director at Caterlink said: “This achievement reinforces our dedication to providing the pupils we serve with the best in fresh and seasonal menus.”
