A GROUP of Islington students kick-started the new term with an impressive public exhibition of their most exceptional artwork last week.

The creative media exhibition, which is on display at the Laycock Professional Development Centre, in Laycock Street, Islington, showcases work by 12 students from the pupil referral unit at New River College, in Lough Road, Holloway.

Paul Morris, the college’s ICT art teacher, said: “Our aim at the pupil referral unit is to re-focus students on their education. The artwork allows them to be very expressive and their work is all student-lead. They choose what they want to concentrate on and what media they want to work with.

“The exhibition gives them a chance to demonstrate what they have been able to achieve over the last 10 weeks and the end result is fantastic. They have all been very proud of their final work.”

The students’ artwork, which was completed during a 10-week course, will remain on display until the end of January.
