Computers will be given greater focus in Islington’s 10 libraries, the council leader has said.
At Monday’s Question Time-style session in the Jean Stokes Community Centre, Cllr Richard Watts said that making room for more computers is a deliberate move to get people back in libraries.
He said: “At Finsbury Library, having more computer terminals reversed a long-term decline in usage. Students are coming in to do homework, for example.”
Cllr Watts added that in the face of government cuts, “we want to look at using our library buildings more cleverly”.
He added: “We are looking at how we can combine use of our buildings, for example by offering more education and training from libraries.”
