Play time brought traffic to a stand still on June 24 as Thornhill Primary school shut off a section of Lofting Road in Barnsbury to give its pupils a play time to remember.

Working with the council and Parent Teacher Association (PTA), the road closure allowed plenty of space for children to run, bike, scoot, play hopscotch and play with giant bubble wands.

“There is something old fashioned and yet exciting for children to be able to run and play in the street like we used to as kids,” said PTA chair Sarah Adams.

“There is no better and easy way for children to expand their friendship groups,” added head teacher Jenny Lewis.
