Asida the Vebaliser promotes the joy of text to youngsters
A slam poet wowed a group of pupils in honour of World Book Week.
Asida the Vebaliser headed to Holloway School, Hilldrop Road, on Wednesday as part of its celebrations.
Students were treated to different events and activities to promote a love of reading and literacy, including book swaps, book trailers at break and lunchtime and trips to bookshops. Other poets and authors, such as Dave Cousins and Deanna Rodgers, also ran workshops with the pupils.
Headteacher Bob Hamlyn said: “Once again I am so proud at how the staff and students have stepped up and responded to such a great initiative. We have taken World Book Day to a different level here at Holloway School, and we’ve proved that reading is not just essential but also exciting and fun.”
Staff joined in the fun by dressing up alongside students.
All pupils were given a World Book Day voucher to buy a book of their choice.
