Green-fingered Finsbury Park residents gather for Chelsea Fringe event

Around 100 horticulturally curious residents descended on Ambler Road, Finsbury Park, for part of the Chelsea Fringe.
The event, one of 200 across London run in tandem with the famous flower show, was a souped-up version of the regular Cake Sundays run by a groups of 100 domestic vegetable growers.
Visitors were treated to seed giveaways including sunflower seeds and seed bombs – seeds mixed with clay which people can use to ‘‘bomb’’ concrete areas and brighten them up with flowers.
The day finished with live music from band Can You Dig It and a couple of foraging walks run in conjunction with the Ecology Centre in nearby Gillespie Park.
Naomi Shchillinger, who helped organise the event, said: “It was brilliant, a splendid afternoon. It was really warm and sunny as well.”
