Is the council ducking issue of crater-like Highbury potholes?

A pothole has become so big that a flock of rubber ducks have taken up residence in the moonlike “crater”.
The plastic toys may be a joke but disgruntled residents in Sotheby Road, Highbury are far from amused.
Cllr Terry Stacy, who represents Highbury East ward, which covers Sotheby Road, said: “I am not sure how big a pothole now needs to get before the council takes action, but this one looks like a crater that would be more at home on the moon than on an Islington street.”
Cllr Paul Smith, Islington Council’s executive member for environment, said: “This pothole keeps reappearing due to a suspected leak Thames Water are tracing to their mains.
“We attend to potholes across Islington as soon as we’re alerted, and will usually take action on hazardous potholes within hours of them being reported.”
He added the council would carry out repairs in Sotheby Road as soon as they could.”
