A group of travel agent colleagues have reason to celebrate after winning a total of 53,860.40 in the EuroMillions.

The 16-strong-syndicate of wholesale tour operators at Kuoni Destination Management GTA, based in Goswell Road, Finsbury, each banked over 3,300 after matching five numbers in the August 31 draw.

Syndicate leader Heidi Basut said that a member of the group, who wanted to remain anonymous, bought the winning ticket just before rushing off on holiday. She continued: “Luckily one of the syndicate members bought the ticket just before running off to the airport to catch a flight. We all found out on Tuesday that we’d won when we checked online whilst in the office and, as the whole syndicate sit very close to each other, we all screamed the office down

“However, our colleague who bought the ticket didn’t know about the win until Wednesday when we managed to contact them as they relaxed in the sunshine on holiday. As you can imagine, we’re so glad they did have the time to buy the ticket that day. We will definitely be buying them a beer when they’re back.”
