Yoga instructors Sophia Al-irimi and Maysa Marques will launch #stretch4Syria, a six-hour yogathon event to raise money for the Syrian Refugee Crisis, on Sunday.

The event will be held at The Sobell Centre in Hornsey Road, Holloway, and is open to both experienced yoga fans and beginners.

Participants are asked to donate a minimum of £15 in order to attend one of the six classes, or stay for up to three consecutive classes designed for all levels.

Maysa said: “As the number of refugees increases, so does the basic human needs of food, water, clothes and shelter. Sophia and I wanted to turn our passion for yoga into something that could raise as much money as possible to help others as well as do themselves some good.”

#stretch4syria is part of Hero Yoga, a scheme started by Sophia and Maysa dedicated to the co-ordination and production of yoga events, to raise money for established charities and organisations supporting refugee crises, mental health care and homelessness.

Those interested in taking part should register and book their space by logging on to the Hero Yoga website.
