A FORMER world heavyweight champion will appear at a boxing event in Islington next Thursday.
“Terrible” Tim Witherspoon will be the guest of honour at a night of amateur boxing at the Boston Dome, in Dartmouth Park Hill, Tufnell Park.
Witherspoon, who successfully defended his WBA world heavyweight title against Frank Bruno in 1986 at Wembley Stadium, will present the prizes to the boxers.
The event is being organised by Islington Boy’s Club, which is currently involved in a legal tussle with a private boxing class that also uses its premises, in Hazellville Road, Archway.
Witherspoon is said to have pledged his support to the club in its ongoing legal battle.
