A corner of London’s east end is set to be transformed into the sights, sounds and smells of Argentina’s colourful capital city, Buenos Aires.

For two nights, Dalston’s MC Motors warehouse will host “Cambalache” - a wine tasting event which incorporates the food, music, art and famous tango from the Latin American country.

Visitors will be able to sample 150 different wines from 24 leading Argentine wineries and attend a wine and music “masterclass” with “sensory experts” from Heston Blumenthal’s Fat Duck restaurant, who will demonstrate how to match certain songs and sounds with wine to enhance its taste.

Traditional Argentine food will also be on offer, including Patagonian lamb, empanadas which are cooked on a traditional “asado” (BBQ) and chimichurri - a green sauce served with grilled meat - which diners can make themselves.

This will be the second time Cambalache has taken place in London and the organisers, Wines of Argentina and JAR London, are hoping it will top the success of last year’s sell-out event which won an award for Most Immersive Event.

Jo Sharff, from JAR London, said: “Ultimately, we’re looking to introduce people to Argentine wine, the country and its culture and reach out to more people than we did last year.

“This year will be bigger and better but we’re retaining some of the most loved features from last time. The professors’ masterclass was definitely one of the favourite experiences so they are returning but with another workshop that is a bit different, plus dancing, music, cocktails, beer and of course lots of wine.”

Around 850 people are expected to attend the event over the two evenings on April 30 and May 1.

Other highlights include street artists who will be painting murals live at the event as well as talks on celebrated writer, Jorge Luis Borges, and a masterclass in how to make Argentina’s popular Fernet Branca aperitif in a 1940s style cocktail lounge.

Buenos Aires’ famous San Telmo antiques market will also be recreated for the event, complete with a market hawker and a live folk band while dancers will be performing and giving Tango lessons for visitors.

Tickets for Cambalache: One Night in Argentina cost £40 and include all food and drink.
