Jordan Nobbs is a key cog in the Arsenal and England engine room and her impressive career goes from strength to strength.

The 24-year-old was one of the standout performers in England’s run to the semi-finals of the Euro 2017 finals this summer and has pulled the strings in the Gunners’ midfield since 2010.

And her efforts were rewarded at the FA Women’s Football Awards, at the Grosvenor House Hotel in central London, as she claimed the FA WSL 1 Players’ Player of the Spring Series.

Nobbs said: “It’s an incredible feeling, if you want to win any award as a player, it’s one that other players have voted for. It’s a very proud moment and I’m very grateful.

“I feel like I’ve pushed myself a lot this year, but hopefully there’s more to come and I’ve still got more in me. I’ve had a great season with Arsenal and I’ve loved every minute of it, so to win this award is the perfect finish.

“Pre-season has been hard – it always is – but it’s exciting to get back to your normal routine, and hopefully I can carry that into the games. Pre-season has been good and we’re in a good place right now as a club.”

As for England’s recent success, Nobbs added: “It was incredible, personally it was an emotional rollercoaster, good and bad, but for the bigger goal of progressing women’s football, it was the perfect way of improving it really, and hopefully we can carry on being good role models and the women’s game can keep growing.

“For us to get regular games and for the fans to be able to come regularly, it’s good for momentum for the women’s game.

“The support has been incredible. To be in the semi-finals of two major tournaments shows how together our team is and how far we’ve come in the women’s game – the qualifiers is another step for us to start again on an exciting World Cup.”

Nobbs also picked up the FA WSL 1 Goal of the Spring Series prize for her stunning 30-yard free-kick against Manchester City in May and added: “I do like to shoot and thankfully that went in! I’d been practicing a straight run technique and thought ‘what’s the worst that can happen?’

“I know I have it in my locker, so it’s a great feeling to know it went in.”
