Families didn’t let the wet weather dampen their spirits during an annual fun day at Highbury Fields.

Little ones delighted in the chance to get up close with animals at the petting zoo, and music for the day was provided by a live orchestra and a steel pan soloist.

The activity day also featured a magician, football coaching, performances by a local theatre company and a special appearance from Peppa Pig.

The event was organised by Partners for Improvement, which manages Islington Council street properties. Customer first officer Katrina Dalby said: “The event has been running since 2007, but luckily this is the first year we’ve had rain. Everyone still had a great time though.

“The aim of it is to get residents together and get them talking to each other, and most importantly have fun.”
