Burrito-munching revellers will inevitably cause trouble if a Mexican joint in central Islington is allowed to sell takeaway booze, neighbours believe.
Five people who live near Chipotle, at the Angel station end of Upper Street, are objecting to its plans.
It could mean takeaway alcohol being sold up until 2am on weekends. Islington Council’s licensing sub committee is set to make a decision at a town hall meeting on Tuesday next week.
One of the written objections reads: “Allowing alcohol to be bought up till 2am, and consumed off site, will simply lead to further congregation, fighting and chaos at the sheltered market stall area on Charlton Place/Camden Passage. There will only be more build up here in the summer months, when the weather is better.
“I frequently have to call the police due to trouble in this area – I shudder to think how much additional unrest there will be if licensing regulation is loosened.”

Chipotle is in the Angel Cumulative Impact Zone, which theoretically means the council should be restricting alcohol licences.
