Nearly 1,000 people crammed into a community centre to celebrate the arts at the weekend.

Dancing, singing, comedy, poetry and crafts – which included edible sculpture workshops – were on offer at the St Luke’s Centre in Central Street, Finsbury, on Saturday.

The third annual Finsbury Arts Festival, held in partnership with local social enterprise Talk Action, showcased the best local and professional musicians, artists and performers.

The new Central Street Cookery School within the centre served up ‘maid of gingerbread’ sculptures and edible cups.

St Luke’s manager Ceren Wiltshire said: “The centre was teaming with people of all ages with woodwork, willow weaving, music and dance, and our cookery school launched with food art. There were workshops, performances and an open mic which lots of people used for comedy, poetry and music.

“We’re already looking forward to next year.”
