One hundred and eleven boycott pledges have been handed to the Post Office over plans to franchise its Finsbury Park branch.
As reported in the Gazette this month, the Post Office is planning to merge the Crown unit in Seven Sisters Road with a stationery shop.
Activists from the Communication Workers Union (CWU) say this would lead to an inferior service.
But the Post Office insists it will be business as usual, with the added benefit of longer Saturday opening hours.
The Post Office held a consultation at the shop on Monday, where 111 boycott pledge letters, and 255 boycott pledge petition signatures, were handed in to bosses.
Steve Jones, national executive member of the CWU, said: βIt will be a second rate service with people on the lowest possible wage and a huge risk to other stationers and newsagents in the area. We should not forget the Post Office is publicly owned.β
