Two of the borough’s best-loved centres of art are among a select group of tourist attractions included in a new map encouraging Londoners to explore the city.
The above ground illustration of the Victoria Line includes the Park Theatre in Finsbury Park and the Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art in Highbury and appeared as part of a social media promotion by Transport for London, with the potential of displaying the maps in stations in the future.
The two venues are included as “hidden gems” among 16 activities that cost little or no money and include visiting Buckingham Palace and Tate Britain and Vauxhall City Zoo.
As part of the promotion Alpacas and Goats from the zoo tapped in at Vauxhall station and rode the tube yesterday alongside bemused passengers.
Nigel Holness, operations director at London Underground said; “The above ground map of the Victoria line is a great way of illustrating some of the many enjoyable things to do and see without leaving London – including seeing goats and alpacas right here in the city.”
