An old army barracks in Holloway is set to be bulldozed and to make way for more than 110 homes.

A plan to redevelop the 1.5 acre erstwhile territorial army base in Parkhurst Road has been submitted to Islington Council.

The old buildings will be torn down and replaced by three new blocks – four, five and six storeys high – with landscaping work done to the surrounding area, including a garden and courtyard.

Elliot Lipton, managing director of First Base, who have bought the land, said: “The site is perfectly positioned in a sought after area of London. Our plans will provide new homes for Islington, and inspirational design that complements the surrounding architecture and character of the area. All our developments across London follow this same ethos – exemplary design in great locations, driven by the needs of Londoners.”

The deadline for comments to the town hall about the planning application is August 14.
