Adrian Carpenter, 30, is facing a life sentence for killing 17-year-old Gary Scott in Marquis Road late on December 1.

Speaking after the hearing at Woolwich Crown Court today, Gary’s family said: “Our kids should be burying us, not us burying our kids. Too much young life is being lost.”

Jermaine Reid, 28, was found guilty of manslaughter for his part. The pair, both of Victoria Road, Finsbury Park, had met Gary, of Tottenham, at 9pm that night as he returned from a birthday party in Enfield.

They then got into an argument that led to him being stabbed in the left leg and he died in hospital.

Reid and Carpenter fled the scene and were arrested two nights later in Essex.

They both gave no comment when interviewed by police but Carpenter later admitted carrying a knife and stabbing Gary.

He also admitted drug offences, which Reid was later found guilty of.

Det Ch Insp Nicola Wall, who led the investigation, said: “This underlines the danger and risk involved in carrying knives. A young man has tragically lost his life.”

The pair are set to be sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court tomorrow.
