Central Foundation Boys School was celebrating topping its GCSE results from last year, on the eve of its 150th anniverary.
83 per cent of its exams were graded A* to C, up 5pc on last year. This included 85pc of its students achieving A* to C grades in both English and Maths.
One of those who did exceptionally well was Sirdas Aba, who achieved a remarkable eleven A* grades across the board. The total number of exams graded A* or A was 28pc.
“Central Foundation believes every young person can be successful whatever their starting point or background and our results demonstrate that we have made this belief a reality,” said Jamie Brownhill, headteacher at the school.
“Our students have made exceptional progress throughout their time at the school and we are particularly delighted at the large number of A and A* grades.”
