In the run-up to Christmas, the season of goodwill, it is traditional to think about helping those less fortunate and giving to charity is a wonderful way to do this.
At a time when we are all having to tighten our belts, it’s difficult to think about giving our money away. However, I think I’ve discovered the answer. I’ve found a website run by CARE International UK, which allows people in Britain to lend money to a person trying to set up their own business in a developing country. The website is www.lendwithcare.org. The minimum you can lend is 15 – and for that you can start a life-changing cycle, helping person after person to help themselves. In this climate of belt-tightening and value-for-money, I can’t think of a better Christmas gift. – Miss Kathryn Richards, Richmond Avenue, N1.
