Pond dipping, penalty shootouts, bee hive tours and a foraging walk – it’s all going on at the Gillespie Park spring celebration party this weekend.
As Arsene Wenger takes charge of his last ever game for the Gunners on Sunday in Huddersfield, the Friends of Gillespie Park will host the nature reserve’s annual bash in the shadow of The Emirates.
The event, which takes place in and around the Islington Ecology Centre in Drayton Park, will also feature stalls and a human tower – while the cafe will be dishing up lunch. Live music will come courtesy of classical guitarist Julian Morgan and Martin Shankleman & Friends, who will be playing the blues.
The reserve, home to 80 species of birds, 20 species of butterflies, eight species of dragonflies and 200 flowering plants, will be welcoming people from midday to 4pm.
