Students from the Central Foundation Boys’ School took a look round a Google-backed business centre in Tech City.
Campus, set up by the internet giant to help British technology-based businesses, opened a year ago and to celebrate they invited 10 pupils from the school in Cowper Street, Finsbury, to spend the day there –getting involved with computer coding workshops and watching presentations from Google engineers and visual effects teams.
Emily Thornberry, MP for Islington South, who nominated the pupils, said: “We must inspire our young people to take an interest in computing, technology and entrepreneurship to ensure that we are preparing the next generation of the UK workforce for the digital age. Hopefully, Campus Open Day will have whetted the appetite of the students.... perhaps one of them will go on to be the next Mark Zuckerberg or Larry Page.”
