Specialists at Moorfields Eye Hospital have been nominated for a national award after outstanding patient praise.
Four doctors are in the running for the Clinical Service of the Year Award as part of the Macular Disease Society’s 25th Anniversary Awards for Excellence.
Raja Das-Bhaumik, Adam Mapani, Eric Ezra and Simona Degli Esposti have received nominations. Helen Jackman, chief executive of the Macular Disease Society, said: “The staff at Moorfields do an incredible job and we are delighted they have been recognised for their excellent work.”
Mr Das-Bhaumik, consultant ophthalmologist and oculoplastic surgeon, said: “We do our very best for all patients that come through Moorfields, so I’m delighted that people have taken the time to nominate us. I like to think that Moorfields is a beacon of hope for patients who have nowhere else to turn.
Rose Miles, who submitted a nomination, said: “From my initial telephone call before attending A&E, right through my experience in the department to the point of seeing Mr Das-Bhaumik, I felt totally at ease and comforted that I was in the hands of professionals.”
