The Gazette has exposed a number of care home horror shows in Islington this year. So it’s a refreshing change to report on a home which is performing “outstandingly” well.
Bridgeside Lodge Care Centre in Wharf Road, King’s Cross, has just received its second successive “outstanding” (highest on a scale of four) rating in its Care Quality Commission (CQC) report.
The home, next to the Regent’s Canal, looks after elderly people – some with dementia – as well as younger people who have neurological conditions such as spinal injuries.
The report, published yesterday, praised the “meaningful connections” staff have with patients, as well as the home’s use of technology to keep track on residents.
Chief executive Paul Musgrave said: “This is a superb result for the team, particularly our manager Fatma Makalo, who does an amazing job of leading staff who always go the extra mile.”
