Charity out to tackle period poverty by donating femcare products to Islington schools

Betty for Schools is on a mission to beat period poverty and believes the battle for gender parity must begin in the classroom.

That’s why it offers free classes to both boys and girls, ages eight to 12, to promote a mature and informed national conversation about periods.

In the last year, Betty for Schools has taken its campaign to 3,700 schools in the UK, reaching half a million youngsters and engaging them in an honest discussion about their biology.

This programme also has a travelling “Betty bus”, which has already visited seven schools in north London.

Becky Hipkiss, its education manager, said: “We’re all very excited to see where this takes us, and are looking forward to pushing period education to the forefront of the curriculum in 2018, in addition to helping tackle period poverty.”
