The historic New River is 400 years old next month.
To mark this special anniversary, Islington Council will be putting on several events during the anniversary week, beginning September 23, climaxing in a main event on September 29 with period costume actors, Punch and Judy, den-building, story telling and much more. The river, brain child of philanthropist Hugh Myddleton, opened in 1613 and was designed to bring clean, fresh drinking water into London.
All events will be free, visit www.islington.gov.uk/newrivercelebrations for more information.
