Islington has been named the best borough in London for its work tackling food poverty.
Beyond the Food Bank assesses how boroughs are tackling the growing issue amid budget cuts from the government.
The town hall was praised for introducing a meals on wheels service at a time when most other councils are scrapping the service.
It was also singled out for making real efforts to reduce council tax liability for people on low incomes. Other boroughs in the top three were Lambeth and Greenwich.
Islington was also second in the Good Food for London sister report, which rates boroughs on indicators of healthy and sustainable food.
Leader Cllr Richard Watts said: “We’re committed to tackling food poverty, which is a major issue.
“Our free school meals programme provides a hot meal every day for every primary school child, which makes a real difference to many struggling families.
