A borough-wide festival that makes art galleries out of unusual places continues apace this weekend.

Islington Exhibits, which runs from July 16 to 24, features more than 100 artists, many of them local, sowing their work in 80 venues across the borough.

Now in its second year, the festival sees art displayed in places like tattoo parlours, a farm, hair salons, a law firm, shops, pubs and public walls, including outside Highbury and Islington station (pictured).

During the first weekend, the exhibitions were focused in the north of the borough, but this weekend attention moves to Islington south.

Harriet Carter, chair of Rowan Arts who initiated the festival, said: “This year Islington Exhibits is bigger and better. We’ve been really impressed by the quality of the artwork and the enthusiasm of both artist and venues to highlight the vibrancy of their area.”
