Former mayor of Islington Cllr Jilani Chowdhury presented a cheque for almost £30,000 to his chosen charity.
Each year, the mayor picks an organisation to support while in office. Cllr Chowdhury chose the Manor Gardens Centre, based in Manor Gardens, Holloway, for whom he raised a total of £27,777.
Phillip Watson, chief executive of the charity, said: “We are so grateful to the mayor for making us his chosen charity during his time in office, and want to say thank you for this donation and all his contributions.
“This money will enable us to help more people in need across Islington, and keep providing them with health and community services.”
