A CHILD in north London has died from swine flu – and now pregnant women, pensioners and people with underlying health problems are being urged to get vaccinated.

Health bosses are now calling on high-risk groups to go their GP and get the flu jab, which will this year protect against the H1N1 (swine flu) strain as well as against seasonal flu.

In north London, two pregnant women have become seriously ill from swine flu.

Dr Renu Bindra, assistant director of public health at NHS Islington, said: “Flu is an avoidable illness and we all need to be protected. I’ve already had mine – so go on, get your flu jab and know you are taking the right steps to protect yourself from this virus.”
