Thousands raised at cancer charity bash in Highbury

A mother who has battled cancer, and her family and friends, raised thousands for the fight against the disease on Saturday.

Michelle Lovell organised stalls and a raffle in Highbury Barn, Highbury, that brought in more than £3,000 for the charity Breast Cancer Care.

She runs Mrs Lovell’s Greengrocer in Highbury Park and was diagnosed five years ago. She is now in remission.

Her daughter Katie Georgiou said: “It was a great day and we raised more than we had hoped for.”

The event was part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.Highbury businesses donated prizes for the raffle.
