Senior Labour MP Andy Burnham visited a children’s centre to celebrate Islington piloting his new scheme.

The shadow health secretary headed to the New River Green Children’s Centre, in Ramsey Walk, Islington, shortly after naming the borough one of his “whole person” innovation councils.

Under the proposal, Islington will look into how cash could be better used to look after people’s health and social problems.

Mr Burnham said: “There is no one-size fits all; each council will face different issues and be able to develop their own solutions.

“The experience of these innovation councils will bring benefits to every council that wishes to actively progress integration.”
