A probe into the death of a teenager during a Holloway police chase has hit four officers with gross misconduct notices.

The Independent Police Complaint Commission (IPCC) had been looking into the fatal crash that killed much-loved 18-year-old Henry Hicks in December.

Mr Hicks, of Liverpool Road, Islington, was on a black Vespa scooter when it hit a parked car on Wheelwright Street, near the junction of Roman Way, and went into the path of an oncoming Saab.

He was being followed by a police car, believed to have had its blue light flashing.

The IPCC will now interview the four police constables - two drivers of the car and two passengers - to help determine if their conduct or actions may have breached their standards of professional behaviour.

The commission said the misconduct notices do not imply guilt, but let officers know their behaviour and conduct are under investigation, and the level of severity.

A funeral procession for Mr Hicks has been announced for February 11.

Heartbroken family and friends will gather in Liverpool Road for 11, before walking to the Holy Redeemer Church, in Exmouth Market, Clerkenwell, for 1pm.

On the Justice for Henry Instagram page, which has more than 5,400 followers, the family said: “Our beautiful baby boy’s funeral will be on February 11.

“We are completely heartbroken. We shouldn’t be planning a funeral for our lovely boy it’s so, so wrong.

“We love you so much Henry.”

Since the incident there have been a number of peaceful demonstrations and vigils at the scene of his death, and graffiti has appeared in hundreds of spots across the borough saying ‘Police killed Henry Hicks’.

The family have also setup an online petition, with more than 5,500 signatures, calling for justice.
